The Meaning of LCL and FCL in International Maritime Transport

In international transportation, we often hear the terms FCL and LCL. What do they mean? Below, the editor will provide a detailed introduction to these two meanings for everyone.

1、 The Meaning of LCL and FCL

1. LCL: Less than container capacity. FCL is the relative symmetry of LCL, referring to items with smaller value than the entire container. This type of cargo is usually merged separately by the carrier at the container freight station or inland station. Then assemble two or more products into one box. These goods must also be merged at the destination container freight station or inland station. Land Station is unpacked and transported separately.

2. FCL=Full container loading. FCL is the relative name of an LCL shipment, which refers to the entire container. The shipment is packed, counted, loaded, and sealed by the shipper. The consignee usually unpacks the entire container. However, the unpacking of the freight station can be outsourced to the carrier. However, the carrier is not responsible for any damage or discrepancies to the contents of the packaging box.
